Words that seem to jump off the page

While doing a bit of "re-organizing" in my room, I came across this quote from a lovely old book. I had read this book several years ago, but had written these words down because they seemed to jump off the page at me. Well, needless to say, it once again jumped of the pages of my notebook. Maybe they will do the same for you - maybe not. But either way, I'd like to share them...

"But the Spirit of God has a gracious tyranny which requires more and more from the soul which begins to sacrifice itself. The death of self is undeniably painful. 'The Great Physician, who sees in us what we cannot see, knows exactly where to place the knife. He cuts swiftly and deep into our innermost being, exposing us for who we really are; but we must remember that pain is only felt where there is life, and where there is life is just the place where death is needed most.'"

  1. Wow - I can see why you wanted to remember that quote!

I do the same thing - especially as I tend to send books on to pen pals once I have read them. I really should have a notebook for them but they are on scraps of paper! x

  2. Thanks for sharing that. It really made me think. I had to read it several times and share it with Mom. There is a lot of truth to that statement.
