My Lord, I Did Not Choose You

My Lord, I did not choose You,
For that could never be;
My heart would still refuse You,
Had You not chosen me.

You took the sin that stained me,
You cleansed me, made me new;
Of old You have ordained me,
That I should live in You.

Unless Your grace had called me
And taught my opening mind,
The world would have enthralled me,
To heavenly glories blind.

My heart knows none above You;
For Your rich grace I thirst;
I know that if I love You,
You must have loved me first.

My Lord, I Did Not Choose You

The Quest for Truth

I have embarked on a quest.

I want to know God. I want to truly understand what is required of me as a Christian. I want to search God's Word and discover what it means to live a life that is totally committed to Him and His teachings. I don't want to settle for a life of less than radical obedience to the commands of God. I want to study in depth who God is so that I can understand more fully who Christ is and my ultimate dependance upon Him. I want to learn to pursue God like one pursues a treasure of unmeasurable worth. I want to live focused on Christ and what He has done for me. I want to boldly and unashamedly proclaim the truth of the Gospel.

This is my quest. And with the help of God, I am committed to not turning back.

"Jesus replied, 'Love the Lord your God with all of your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your mind.
This is the first and greatest commandment.'"
Matthew 22:37-38

a quiet park and wet boots || a photo shoot

Meet Alexandra. She's a dear friend of mine who is a super photogenic, fashion loving, fun to be around, music gal who loves Jesus. We finally had the opportunity to spend an afternoon together, which, unfortunately doesn't happen as often as I would like. We had a lovely time chatting at the downtown coffee shop for several hours, and then decided that we were long overdue for a photo shoot.

I love impromptu photo shoots with friends, as for some reason they always seem to be the best. We wandered along through the quiet park, taking advantage of a lovely winter afternoon. It was quickly realized that our once warm boots are not quite as dry as they had been when the excursion began, but that didn't stop us. We explored some new places, just about froze our fingers off, and made some great memories. In my mind, that just about the closest you can get to the perfect afternoon.
