One year of blogging!

365 days ago I stepped into the world of blogging.

This little blog has been in existence for a full year!
(I think that's a good excuse to go grab yourself a big slice of cake!)

As I looked back to my first post, I realize that some of my goals for this blog have changed. When I first started blogging it was partly for the BG magazine that I edit/write. But now that the magazine has it's own website, the purpose of this blog has kind of changed.

This blog is a place where I can write my thoughts, post pictures, and tell a little bit about my life. But, more than anything else, I pray that everything posted here points to one thing...God...and God alone. I pray that Beautiful Gems has been of encouragement to you in one way or another, and that it has given all glory to the Lord. Even though one of the purposes for Beautiful Gems has changed over the course of the last year, the main goal continues to be glorifying the Lord. Without Him, I am nothing. He is truly worth living for!

I also want to thank all of my followers. Your words of encouragement and sweet comments mean so much to me. Thank you! I've also enjoyed getting to "meet" some of you through your blogs or e-mailing, as it's always neat to hear from other young ladies who are seeking to walk with the Lord and grow in Him.

And now, just for the fun of it, I have a quick question that I'd love to have you answer!

If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go and why?

If I could go anywhere on vacation, I would love to visit Europe! But even more than that, I think it would be so neat to go on a missions trip to Africa. I guess any location would be fine, as there are people all over the world who need the Lord.

I hope to hear back from you and see where you would like to visit!

  1. Congrats on your first year of blogging! =)

If I could go anywhere in the world it would have to be Ireland [europe in general]. It's where most of my ancestors are from and I'd love to photograph the beautiful scenery and historic buildings and towns.

    Blessings, Bethany

  2. I would go to Italy and England. Italy because of the food and landscapes, and England because of the rich history and beautiful scenery.

  3. Congratulations, Rebekah!

Hmm, I would have a hard time picking just one place to travel. I love traveling, so anywhere would be great! I'd have to say that it would be great if the place had important history. =D That makes the trip so much more meaningful. Family/friends coming on the trip would also make it that much better. =)

  5. Hello Rebekah,
Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog! I was surprised that our blog birthdays are so close together. =) Blogging has been such a blessing, and so FUN, too! ;)
If I could go anywhere, I'm with you, I would go to Africa on a mission's trip - or, like you said, anywhere would be fine. =)
    Again, happy blog b-day!
    Many blessings,
    Annie

  6. Rebekah,

Congratulations on one year of blogging! Beautiful Gems has been such an encouragement to me, and your posts are always so inspiring and applicable to my life.
To answer your question, I would most likely visit China again. When we flew over there to adopt my sister, I was so amazed by the country and culture. Also, there is a real need for evangelizing in China, and I would love to share the Good News to those who are lost!
May the Lord continue to bless you. Continue to live for Him each and everyday!

    Many Blessings,
    Jenna

Congratulations on your first year of blogging! Hope to help you celebrate many more! :)

If I could go anywhere in the world...excluding touring the entire United States, I think I would like visit New Zealand or Australia. Of course, to experience the land of my heritage, Germany would be unforgettable, and then I would like to see Ireland as well, and ... :)

  8. Congatulations on one whole year of blogging! I am so thankful that I have been blessed to find your blog, and to read your sweet thoughts!

If I could go anywhere in the world.... {Such a hard decision! :)} it would be Ireland or some place where the Word of the Lord has never been heard. I have always wondered at how amazing it would be to tell someone the love of Christ who has never heard it before.

Again, congratulations for this joyful event.

    In Christ,
    ~Shannon~
