Bright Lights Conferences

I would like to let you girls know about some wonderful opportunities that are coming up! Bright Lights is having several conferences for young ladies who want to grow deeper in their relationship with the Lord. There will be both a Strong in the Lord and Radiant Purity conference in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and also in Duluth, Minnesota. The Strong in the Lord conference is geared more towards young ladies ages 8-14 (though older girls are
welcome to attend), and the cost is $10 per girl and $5 per parent. The Radiant Purity conference is for young ladies ages 12-22, and the cost is also $10 per girl and $5 per parent. Parents are encouraged to attend with their daughters. I would like to encourage those of you who have never gone to one of these conferences to attend one, and those who have gone to one to go again! I have been to the Strong in the Lord conference twice and the Radiant Purity conference once and each time I come away feeling greatly encouraged! The dates for conferences are:

Beautiful Gems Issue 11

I sent out Beautiful Gems issue 11 last night (5/29/10). If you are a subscriber, please let me know if for some reason you didn't receive it! Brownies

 

I figure that since I'm posting a picture of a brownie, I should probably give you the recipe too. These are a family favorite because they are really easy to make and are also very delicious!

Dump Cake

2 C sugar

1 3/4 C flour

5 eggs

1 tsp salt

1 C oil

1 tsp vanilla

1/3 C cocoa

Mix all the ingredients together. Put into an ungreased 9x13" pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips (nuts are also good on top) and bake at 350 for 27 minutes. Enjoy!

Note: Just recently we tried putting cut strawberries and whip cream on top, which was quite good!

I think I found a way to link to past Beautiful Gems issues, but would like to test it out. Beautiful Gems Issue 10

Proverbs 3:5-6

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight."

Proverbs 3:5-6

This verse is a great (and painful!) reminder that we in and of ourselves just can't do it. No matter how hard we try, we just can't be good enough. But if we put our trust in the Lord, He will direct our steps and our lives. I think that putting our trust in Him also means surrendering our all to Him. Now for me, this isn't always easy :) This means surrendering to Him my hopes...my dreams...my life! If you ask me, this seems kind of tough. If you think about it though, it isn't really our life anyways. God is the one who gave it to us and He already owns it! He is just waiting for us to surrender it to Him so that He can work in and through us.
